Thanksgiving


Date
Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.

Reason for celebration
This holiday is celebrated to give thanks for the harvest and the preceding year. Although some people celebrate it to say what they are thankful for.

What is made for the Thanksgiving dinner
Many people make the traditional feast; turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes, and cranberry sauce. But, a few people decide that each family will bring their individual dish to share with one another at the feast.

History of the holiday
In the year of 1621, Thanksgiving was celebrated by Pilgrims. The feast lasted three days, according to Edward Winslow the holiday was celebrated by 90 Native Americans and 53 Pilgrims. It became a national holiday in 1863 by President Abe Lincoln.

I am thankful for...
  • My mom because without her I don’t know where I would be
  • My dad because he always respected who I am
  • My my older sister because she keeps me from doing stupid things
  • My cousin because she was there for me in my darkest time
  • My godmother because I know she always has my mom’s back
  • My cousin because he’s the only one that I can play with
  • My aunt because she gives the best advice i can get
