NEUROSURGEON

Neurosurgeons perform surgery on the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. They perform these surgeries to remove tumors, relieve chronic pain, and to treat diseases such as Parkinson's or epilepsy. They also use surgery to relieve hydrocephalus, abnormal build-up of fluid in the brain. Brain surgeons may focus on correction of deformities. Neurosurgeons make about $775,968 a year but the top 10% make about $1,229,881. To become a neurosurgeon, you have to take the basic requirements to be a physician, you need a bachelor's degree in pre-med and four years of graduate school in an accredited medical school to obtain an M.D. after graduate school med-school graduates must be accepted into a neurosurgery training program. The average length is 7 years, many requiring eight years.
